We offer Tae Kwon-Do classes for students aged 8 and above.

We are members of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain, the TAGB, one of the largest single style martial arts groups in Europe.

Classes take place in the Gym Hall of the P.E Block at Hutchesons' Grammar School, Beaton Road, Glasgow G41 4NW.

Classes

Glasgow South Tae Kwon-Do classes consist of our students, both new and old, training together in a positive, motivating and disciplined environment.

Our classes are open to kids aged 8 and above, teens and adults. No experience or fitness level is required — everyone can start and everyone can succeed.

Kids will build confidence, learn discipline and respect while developing social skills, teamwork and focus, all while learning real Tae Kwon‑Do, staying active and making friends.

Teens and adults enjoy a powerful way to get fitter, sharpen focus, relieve stress, build resilience and learn practical self‑defence. Every class strengthens both body and mind, and with regular training your fitness, flexibility and mobility will continue to improve.

Glasgow South Tae Kwon-Do provides instruction in all aspects of the art including Self-Defence, Sparring, Padwork, Breaking and Traditional TKD. All classes include Fitness, Flexibility and Mobility training as part of our syllabus.

You’ll be supported every step of the way in your Tae Kwon-Do journey by our instructors and assistants along with your training partners as you work toward achieving your goals.

Whether you’re looking for a positive activity for your child, a new challenge for yourself or a shared family experience, Glasgow South Tae Kwon-Do offers an empowering journey for all ages.

Join us and discover a martial art that builds skill, resilience and lifelong confidence.

Our Instructor

Glasgow South TKD’s Principal Instructor, Master Stephen Dooley, a 7th Degree Black Belt, has been dedicated to martial arts since 1980. He began his journey with "Full Contact Karate"—now widely known as Kickboxing—achieving his Black Belt before the unfortunate closure of his Glasgow club.

In 1985, Stevie transitioned to Tae Kwon-Do, joining the TAGB (Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain) under his first instructor, Mr. Pat Mallon. In December 1988, he successfully earned his Black Belt, graded by the renowned Master Hee Il Cho. Following this, Stevie continued his development under Mr. Tom Clark and later under Mr. Jim Love, who remains his instructor today, after both Mr. Mallon and Mr. Clark moved on.

Stevie has represented Scotland as a member of the TAGB Scotland team in international competitions and competed in Tae Kwon-Do events across the UK and in Europe. As a qualified instructor and referee, Stevie is actively involved in officiating at local, national and international tournaments.

In addition to his achievements in Tae Kwon-Do, Stevie has broadened his skills by training in Boxing, Muay Thai and Silat to further enhance his martial arts expertise and personal development..

Stevie has taught Tae Kwon-Do in various capacities since around 1988, passing on his knowledge and inspiring countless students.

In 2025, he became the first person in TAGB Scotland to be awarded the prestigious rank of 7th Degree Master — a testament to his skill, dedication, and contributions to the martial arts community.

Stevie is Disclosure Scotland PVG cleared, first aid trained, and fully insured.
